The A.F.M. Executive welfare board was established during 1938 after unkept, neglected children were drop off at a parsonage in Johannesburg. The church took care of these children and the first house for these children were established in Lyndhurst Johannesburg. A decentralized program was established during 1999 where those children were transferred back into the community and sometimes at a place closer to their families. Congregations got involved and so did the “satellite” children houses start in communities and congregations. The A.F.M. Akasia Church started the “Potters Houses” project during April 2004 and the first project was House Dorandia which was opened on the 1st April 2004. |
